Budget 2021: The telecom industry is demanding a reduction in the fees levied on mobile service companies in the budget (Budget 2021-22) to be presented in the financial year 2021-22, including license fees and spectrum usage charges.

Financial advisory company Deloitte India has said in the report related to the budget that the leading telecom companies from all over the world should set up their infrastructure in India, for which the government had brought the PLI scheme. But other incentives are needed to speed up employment and economic growth.
IoT’s smart city and smart manufacturing play a big role According to media reports, by 2025, $ 25 billion of equipment worldwide will be connected to the Internet of things. Everything from TV, fridge, doors to the house will be controlled by IoT. Internet of Things devices connected to 5G will play a big role in smart city and smart manufacturing.
Tax exemption can be announced under digital policy- Under the National Digital Communication Policy 2018, the government has already set a target of taking digital communication to 8 percent of GDP. It also aims to ensure investment of 100 billion dollars and broadband speed of 50Mbps to every citizen. In such a situation, incentives and tax rebates can be announced under the digital policy.

Expected to be excluded from the purview of TDS- The report by rating firm Ikri says, the telecom industry also wants to settle pending cases. These include a levy on service tax of spectrum acquired in pre-2016 auctions. Apart from this, she also wants to settle the issue of one time spectrum charge. The telecom industry is in favor of keeping this sector outside the purview of TDS (Tax on Direct Source). It also wants exemption from basic custom duty on telecom devices, especially 4G / 5G devices.
