So that no questions can remain in your mind. Let’s know about the Scrappage Policy …

First know what is the new scraping policy The government is going to implement this policy on a voluntary basis. According to this policy, old and unfit vehicles will be phased out in a phased manner. Let me tell you that if your vehicle is 15 to 20 years old, then you have to get a fitness certificate of the vehicle every 6 months.

Which vehicles will have to take fitness certificate- Under this scraping policy, vehicles running in the country will have to undergo a fitness test as per schedule. According to this, personal vehicles will have to undergo fitness test after 20 years and commercial vehicles after 15 years. The fitness test of the old vehicles will be done in automated centers, which will be constructed by the government soon. There will be a fitness test of vehicles at these centers where they will be given a certificate. With this, if your vehicle fails the fitness test, then you have to send your vehicle in junk. According to reports, the fitness test will cost up to Rs 40,000, which will be in addition to road tax and green tax.
Understand Green Tax- If your vehicle is more than 8 years old, then the government can collect green tax from you. This tax can be taken ten to 10 to 25 percent of the road tax at the time of the renewal of the fitness certificate of the vehicle. Let me tell you right now, after getting approval from the Ministry of Transport, the states will be sent for consultation. Only after which the government will decide on its rates. At the same time, the government has made clear that hybrid, electric, CNG, ethanol and LPG vehicles will be completely exempt from green tax.

Claim of creation of 50 thousand jobs The government claims that after the implementation of this new scraping policy, sales of new vehicles will increase in the country. With this, the country’s automobile business will increase from 4.5 lakh crores to 6 lakh crores. An investment of 10 thousand crores will be made from this policy and the government is claiming to create about 50 thousand new jobs.

Pollution will be controlled According to a report, there are about 1 crore such vehicles in the country which are outdated and are causing more pollution. These old vehicles are responsible for about 10 to 12 times more pollution. If these vehicles are removed from the roads, then pollution will be reduced by 25 to 30 percent. According to an IIT study, 70 percent of vehicles cause pollution and older vehicles cause the most air pollution, so it would be appropriate to send them in the scrub.

You will get an incentive on sending the car in scrap With this policy coming into force from April 1, 2022, the government is making a provision for giving incentive amount i.e. incentive. However, it will depend on the age and condition of the vehicles, how much incentive will be given for which vehicle. At present, the government is considering the incentive for vehicles and soon it will be announced by the ministry. At the same time, a new guideline will be released on the Scrappage Policy. In which, apart from these rules, some more rules can be added. With this, these rules can also be changed.
