Khassi World Cup: Five years ago the game was called Khatigaon Premier League. Later it was recognized as the Khasi World Cup. To participate in this tournament, the team has to spend 2200 rupees.

There is a cricket tournament here, but there is no cup or money at stake. Here comes a goat (Khassi Goat) and honor in the winning part. However, over time this local ‘World Cup’ also faced a bad phase. Now the situation is changing. The popularity of this tournament is increasing in the region again.

According to the English newspaper Times of India, the tournament is called Khasi Cup by the locals. This is such a simple cricket tournament lasting about a fortnight, where you will get to feel the street cricket. The ball is also lost on hitting a six. After this, the audience along with the players also start searching for it.

A remedy rekindles the spirit of the gameChandra Shekhar Kapri, the organizer of the event, says that the winner of this game gets Khasi goat and honor. A period also came when the youth of the village started coming out and there was a shortage of players and spectators. In such a situation, five years ago, the tournament called Khatigaon Premier League turned into Khasi Cup. This solution also worked. Soon people started registering the village for the tournament. The special thing is that to join this game, a team has to pay an entry fee of Rs 2200. Tournament organizer Anurag Punetha says ‘goat encourages people’.

The rules of this game are also very interesting. Those who hit five sixes in an over get a reward of 1 thousand rupees, those who hit five fours get a reward of Rs 500 and a hat-tricker gets Rs 200. Kapri told that this time the Khasi Cup will be held on 21 November.
