Senior diplomat Manpreet Vohra (Manpreet Vohra) has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Australia. Vohra is a 1988 batch Indian Foreign Service officer and is currently the Ambassador of India to Mexico.

Canberra Senior diplomat Manpreet Vohra has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Australia. The Foreign Ministry gave this information on Monday.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Manpreet Vohra is a 1988 batch Indian Foreign Service officer and is currently the Ambassador of India to Mexico. They may soon take on a new assignment.

Vohra’s appointment comes at a time when India-Australia relations are advancing rapidly and cooperation is strengthening, especially in the Indian Pacific region. Also read: UN chief gives Indian economist Noronha important responsibility in UNEP

Before this, UN chief Antonio Gutaras appointed Indian economist Ligia Noronha as assistant general secretary and head of the United Nations Environment Program in the New York office. Noronha is an economist and has 30 years of international experience in the field of sustainable development. He has worked as a Director in the Economic Department of UNNEP in Nairobi since 2014. Prior to joining UNEP, Noronha has also been Executive Director (Research Co-ordination) and Director of Resources, Regulation and Global Security Section at The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) in New Delhi.
