New Delhi. Despite the challenges posed by the Corona Pandemic, on March 11, 2021, the Indian Railways crossed the cumulative Freight figure of the previous year.
The cumulative freight traffic of Indian Railways on 11 March 2021 was 1145.68 million tonnes, which is more than the cumulative loading (1145.61 million tonnes) of the previous year.
These figures for March 2021 show a spurt in terms of goods loading and speed. Also, at what speed is the Indian Railways working, they also display it.
As on 11 March 2021, on a monthly basis, Indian Railways’ load was 43.43 million tonnes, which is 10 percent higher than the same period last year (39.33 million tonnes).
On March 11, 2021, on a daily basis, the freight loading of the Indian Railways was 4.07 million tonnes, which is 34 percent higher than the same date last year (3.03 million tonnes).
The average speed of goods trains till March 11 in the month of March 2021 was 45.49 kmph, which is almost double compared to the same period of last year (23.29 kmph).
It is noteworthy that Indian Railways is also giving many concessions and discounts to make the movement of goods trains more attractive. Freight of Indian Railways is developing at a rapid pace through strengthening of business development units in zones and divisions, continuous communication with customers and logistic services, and high speed etc.
There is also a need to pay attention to the fact that the Kovid epidemic has been used by the Indian Railways as an opportunity to improve its overall efficiency and performance.
