The video is of IIFA, in which Amitabh Bachchan reveals about his film ‘Sholay’ on stage, saying that he got Jai’s role in Sholay on the recommendation of Dharmendra.
In the video, Amitabh says, ‘The specialty of Dharam ji is a very important and touching person, that he is the best friend and the most interesting person you can ever meet. I would like to open a deep secret and Dharam ji. If Dharamji had not been there, I would never have been able to work with him in Sholay. He recommended my name for Sholay. Because of his insistence, Ramesh Sippy took me to that film. I will always be grateful to him for this’.

There is also a clip in this video of Karan Johar’s show Koffee with Karan. Quip is in the year 2007, in which Jaya Bachchan and Hema Malini joined as guests. In this, Jaya says that he should have played the role of Basanti, because he would have got a chance to work with Dharmendra. Jaya is heard saying in the video that he looks like a Greek god.
Let me tell you that Sholay, released in 1975, was directed by Ramesh Sippy. Every scene of this film, which came 46 years ago, is still fresh in people’s minds. In the film, Sanjeev Kumar played the character of Thakur, while Jaya Bachchan was in the role of his widow daughter-in-law. Amjad Khan played Gabbar Singh in the film.
