The Center has extended the validity period of all expired vehicle documents including driving license, RC.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for the first time on 30 March 2020 decided to increase the validity of documents related to vehicles. Since then, the validity period of these documents is being extended for the fifth time till now. However, this time the central government has made it clear that after this people will not be given any exemption.

Only those whose documents expire after February 1, 2020, will be benefited under the new decision of the Ministry. Earlier in December 2020, the ministry had extended the validity of vehicle documents to 31 March 2021. Now the documents expiring on or before 30 June will be considered valid till 30 June 2021.

The ministry has made it clear that after this, there will be no extension in the validity period of vehicle documents. After this, people will have to renew their expired documents according to the rules. The ministry said that for the first time it was decided to extend the validity period to control the spread of corona infection. After this, this decision was taken to save people from long lines and waiting time. Also, Regional Transportation Offices (RTOs) could also be saved from this additional burden. The government is providing some RTO services online.

Rules will be changed to get a driving license
The government has also introduced new rules for obtaining driving license. The center has started online facility for driving license application. Along with this, the number of RTOs is also being increased in the states. At the same time, many new standards are also being added to the test to get the license. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently said that to get a driving license, the applicant must score at least 69 per cent. Only then will he qualify for further tests. Along with this, the applicant will have some special skills such as reverse-moving the vehicle in limited distance and driving it will be compulsory.
