FADA claims – Passenger vehicle sales rose 28% in March, 42% decline in commercial vehicle

new Delhi. Retail sales of passenger vehicles increased by 28.39 per cent to 2,79,745 units in March from the same period last year. Last year, sales were low due to the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic. Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), the association of automobile dealers, gave this information.

FADA has collected vehicle registration data from 1,277 RTOs out of 1,482 regional transport offices. Sales of passenger vehicles in March 2020 stood at 2,17,879 units.

35 percent drop in two-wheelerHowever, two-wheeler sales fell 35.26 per cent to 11,95,445 units in the month under review, from 18,46,613 units in the same month a year ago. During this period, commercial vehicle sales also decreased by 42.2 percent to 67,372 units from 1,16,559 units in March 2020.

Three-wheeler sales also fell by 50.72 percent
Similarly, three-wheeler sales also fell by 50.72 per cent to 38,034 units from 77,173 units in the same month a year ago. However, tractor sales during this period rose by 29.21 per cent to 69,082 units.
