Google Doodle Vera Gedroits: Vera Gedroits was Russia’s first female military surgeon. Not only this, she was the first woman professor in the field of surgery and the first woman to serve as a doctor in the Imperial Palace of Russia.
As a young physician, Gedrowitz first voiced hygiene, nutrition and hygiene in Russia. He also made recommendations to improve Russia’s medical conditions. Vera Gedrowitz was born on April 19, 1870, into a prominent family of the Lithuanian royal dynasty of Kiev, at which time he was part of the Russian Empire. Vera Gedrowitz studied medicine in Switzerland. As a doctor, Vera returned to the country at the end of the 20th century and came to Russia to her country. Soon after this, he started his medical career as a surgeon in a factory hospital.

Vera Gedrowitz had five siblings but she was the smartest to read. One of his brothers died at a young age due to lack of proper medical care, after which he decided to become a doctor. It was only after the death of his brother Sergei that he vowed to become a doctor, so that he could help stop the misery of others. His father was a Catholic while his mother was quite orthodox. Till his last time, he treated people and did social work. He died in Kiev in 1932 at the age of 56. He had written many books related to surgery which would come in handy in the field of medicine in the future. Vera Gedrowitz was not only a surgery and a medical professor, besides, he has also written many medical research. Her talent as an author of Vera Gedrowitz was not limited to academics. Dr. Gedrowitz has published several collections of poems, including his 1931 memoir, including his 1931 biography ‘Life’. In this book, he has told the story of his personal journey.
