Sumitra Bhave died at 6.45 am today at Pune’s Sahyadri Superspeciality Hospital due to lung infections and other physical complications.
According to media reports, Sumitra Bhave died at 6.45 am today at Pune’s Sahyadri Superspeciality Hospital due to lung infection and other physical complications. She was ill for a long time and was hospitalized for the last two weeks.
Sumitra was suffering from a disease called Interstitial Lung Disease, which is a complex disease for a long time.
Sumitra Bhave had made a distinct identity by making films on different subjects like ‘Dahavi F’, ‘Doghi’, ‘Samhita’, ‘Astu’, ‘Nital’, ‘Welcome Home’. She joined Sunil Sukthankar while directing films in the 1980s and the two together directed about 17 films. Sumitra has been known to change the face of Marathi cinema for years with filmmaker Sunil Suthankar. The filmmaker duo has impressed people with many hits and important films, which earned them acclaim.
