Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat expressed deep condolences on the demise of Bachchi Singh Rawat. He said, ‘Let the lord place the departed soul in your shrines, and give the grieving family the strength to endure patience and sorrow’.

Rishikesh. Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Bachhi Singh Rawat died on Sunday (Bachi Singh Rawat Death). BS Bastia, Medical Superintendent of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, confirmed the demise of baby Singh Rawat. Rawat was admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh on Saturday after complaining of breathlessness. He was 71 years old. He was brought to AIIMS Rishikesh via Air Ambulance from Haldwani where he was immediately taken to the emergency ward and treatment was started. Initial investigations revealed an infection in his lungs.

Bachhi Singh Rawat had been an MP from Almora-Pithoragarh region four times, and thrice in a row he had defeated Congress veteran and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat in the elections. Considered close to senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, Bachhi Singh Rawat was the Minister of State for Science and Technology in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government at the Center.
