The latest data is part of a report released by the National Statistical Office. According to the data, 8.87 lakh members were added to the plan of ESIC in June 2020, 4.89 lakh in May and 2.63 lakh members in April. This indicates that the number of members joining the scheme has increased since the lockdown imposed for the prevention of the Corona virus epidemic has increased, ie newcomers get employment at regular wages.

According to the latest data, the number of members joining the ESIC scheme in July 2020 was 7.63 lakhs in total, which improved to 9.5 lakhs in August, 11.58 lakhs in September and 12.11 lakhs in October 2020. At the same time it decreased to 9.56 lakh in November. The total number of members joining ESIC’s plan improved to 12.30 lakhs in December 2020. According to the NSO report, the total number of members joining ESIC’s schemes in 2019-20 was 1.51 crore which was 1.49 crore in 2018-19. During September 2017 to March 2018, about 83.35 lakh new subscribers were involved in the ESIC scheme. According to the report, the number of members joining ESIC during September 2017 to January 2021 was 4.86 crore.
The NSO report is based on data from new subscribers linking to the schemes of ESIC, EPFO and PFRDA. The NSO is releasing data of these organizations from April 2018. In this, figures have been taken from September 2017.
EPFO added 12.37 lakh new subscribers in February
According to the report, 12.37 lakh new subscribers were added to the EPFO in February. This is more than 11.95 lakhs as of January 2021. It said that during September 2017 to February 2021, about 4.11 crore (gross) new subscribers joined the EPFO scheme.
