Many staff of Doon Hospital are continuously engaged in the service of the corona patients admitted here (symbolic photo).
In the largest government hospital in Dehradun, everyone is doing their duty, yet there are some people, whom it becomes necessary to mention. About four hundred patients are admitted in this largest Kovid Dedicated Doon Hospital (Doon Hospital). Although the hospital has its own canteen, yet most of the patients’ families bring food every day.
Think if you had to go to the Kavid ward yourself and give food to the patient, then maybe you will think a hundred times. The risk of infection will remain separately. For this, a counter has been made at the hospital gate, where the timber goes to keep the food and then the hospital staff sends it to the patient. Vipin Negi is one of these. Vipin is working in the post of OT Assistant in the hospital. Without caring for himself, Vipin picks food from this counter several times a day and delivers it to the beds of the patients. Being in the high risk zone, Vipin has not been able to meet her children properly for the last several days. They remain isolated at home. However, they do not regret this.
‘It is reassuring that thousands of people are getting help at such a time’
Vipin is relieved that he is getting the help of thousands of people at such a time. In a conversation with News18, Vipin Negi told that his last year was also spent like this for many months. The Korana infection has increased once again. In such a situation, the food coming from every patient’s home has to be delivered on time. Many times the patient has some demand of his own, he also has to fulfill it. They try to reduce the problems of the people. The work of Vijayraj, working in the double hospital itself, is even more risky. Vijayraj struggles on the most difficult front. They bring the patient to Morchery on death. The infected body has to be packed in polythene. It is Vijayraj’s job to inform the kin of the deceased and then handover the dead body to them. A large number of deaths are taking place in the second wave of Corona. Vijayraj does many body shifts in a day. It is a matter of luck that Vijayraj has not been caught by the virus till date. They say that it may have been a corona, but I have never done a test. Now all this is normal for Vijayaraj. On the question of risk, Vijayaraja says that someone has to do this work. Sometimes when the timber arrives to get a body, many times one has to listen too. But, what can we tell to someone who has lost his own life?
Think if people like Vipin Negi, Vijayaraj are not part of the system, then what will happen in this era of epidemic? These are the people who are expected on their own, whose work has built trust in the system. Otherwise, there have been such cases of seeing and hearing that the family itself refuses to touch the infected body. But, it is those people who are doing their duty with the whole of humanity.
