Mumbai. In October 2020, a big news came that the big production house Lyca Productions of South Indian films is going to enter Bollywood. He now wanted to produce Hindi language films. In December 2020, it was reported in the media that Dharma Productions, owned by Karan Johar, is ready to produce films in collaboration with Lyca. Both these production houses were to make 5 big films. The two together made Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer film 2.0. Dharma Production produced the Hindi version of this film. Now the news is that the contract between these two production houses is going to be broken.

Karan had a very fine tuning with Fox Star Studios and the two worked together on several projects. But Walt Disney later took over the Fox group, which later decided to stop greening new films in India. Karan was looking for a studio partner and started a conversation with Team Laika. The two had worked together in Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar Starr 2.0 (2018) in the past. Directed by Shankar, this science fiction film was produced by Dharma Productions in Hindi.

Now the latest update about this is very bad because this agreement has been terminated. A source says, “Lyca Productions has pulled back from its agreement with Dharma Productions. What were the reasons behind the termination of the agreement? Nobody knows this because only top level people were involved in the discussions of the agreement. Yes, it is clear that the agreement is not being done.

In January 2021, it was also reported that Karan Johar was in talks with Gautam Adani’s Adani Group to sell 30 per cent stake in Dharma Productions. But after the advance conversation, no major news has come on its update so far. A source said that, ‘The conversation has taken place, but no update has come on it.’
