Film crew members attacked in Goa, police sent two taxi union leaders to jail

Meanwhile, the ‘Goa Lines Producers Association’ (GLPA) and the ‘Tours and Travel Association of Goa’ (TTAG) on Sunday condemned the attack on the film’s crew alleging that the traditional tourist taxi industry was harming their business.

Panaji Two leaders of Goa Taxi Union of Goa have been arrested for attacking some members of the film crew in Nerul village near Panaji. Police said on Sunday that the accused have been identified as Bappa Korgaonkar and Sunil Naik. A senior official of Porvorim Police Station said that both have been arrested for the attack on Saturday.

He said, ‘The accused unauthorizedly entered the bungalow, where the shooting of the film was going on and attacked the crew members … The members of the taxi union were angry because the film unit had brought the crew members Taxis were hired from outside the state. In the coastal state, the ‘Tourist Taxi’ operators have been on strike for the past fortnight and they demand that the app based taxi service ‘Goa Miles’ be scrapped.
