Electricity consumption in the country increased by 41 percent to 119.27 billion units in April 2021 as compared to a year ago.

New Delhi. Electricity consumption in the country increased by 41 percent to 119.27 billion units in April 2021 as compared to a year ago. This figure of the Ministry of Power is considered to be a sign of good improvement in industrial and commercial work. In April 2020, power consumption was reduced to 84.55 billion units as compared to 110,000.11 billion units in the same month of 2019 due to public restrictions applicable on movement for Kovid 19. The supply of the highest demand for electricity in April this year, that is, the highest supply in the first fortnight was above the record high of 132,000.20 MW recorded in April last year. The supply reached 182,000.55 MW a day in April 2021. This is about 38 percent higher than the highest supply in April last year. The previous year’s record was 132000.73 MW.
