New Zealand SuperMarket Stabbing: The suspect was taken into custody after the incident at Countdown Supermarket in Dunedan City. The injured also included two supermarket employees.

Wellington. On Monday, a man attacked people in a New Zealand supermarket with a knife. Five people have been injured in the incident, out of which three are in critical condition. Officials told about this. Police said that the suspect has been arrested. He was taken into custody after the incident at Countdown Supermarket in Dunedan City. The injured also included two supermarket employees. At the time of the incident, the people present in the supermarket told the local media that at that time people were shouting and running outside. He told that some hemmed shopkeepers tried to stop the attacker and controlled him. Prime Minister Jesinda Ardern said that the intent of the attack was being ascertained, although there was no evidence from the police to call it domestic terrorism. Ardern said, “There is no doubt that such attacks are a matter of grave concern and I want to commend those who dared the attacker to show courage for the safety of the people.” Ardern said that five people have been admitted to Dunedin Hospital. Health officials said that three of the injured have been admitted to the ICU, a fourth person has been kept in the general ward and a fifth person has been discharged from the hospital after treatment. Countdown Supermarket said in a statement, ‘ We are shocked and worried by the incident at Dunedin Central Store this afternoon. Our priority right now is to take care of the injured members of our team and the members of our huge team in the wake of the incident. We are very sorry that some customers have also been injured while trying to help our team members. Police said that they will share more information about the incident on Monday.
