The exchange rate of the rupee strengthened 13 paise per dollar to close at 73.29 (provisional) on Friday amid the softening of the dollar against global currencies. The dollar opened in the interbank foreign exchange market at 73.41 in the morning and ranged between 73.22 to 73.41 per dollar during the day’s trading.

New Delhi. The exchange rate of the rupee strengthened 13 paise per dollar to close at 73.29 (provisional) on Friday amid the softening of the dollar against global currencies. The dollar opened in the interbank foreign exchange market at 73.41 in the morning and ranged between 73.22 to 73.41 per dollar during the day’s trading. In the end, the exchange rate of the rupee was 13 paise stronger than the previous close at 73.29 per dollar. The closing price of the dollar was 73.42 on Wednesday. The market was closed on Thursday on the occasion of Eid. Meanwhile, the Dal index, showing the relative position of the dollar against the six major currencies, fell 0.23 percent to 90.54. In the global crude oil market, the futures price of Brent crude was up one percent at $ 67.72 a barrel. In the domestic stock market, the BSE Sensex improved 41.75 points, or 0.86 percent, to 48,732.55 and the NSE Nifty fell 18.70 points or 0.13 percent to close at 14,677.80 points. Foreign investors remain sellers in the Indian stock market. He had netted Rs 1,260.59 crore in the market on Wednesday.
