NTPC’s consolidated net profit tripled to Rs 4,649.49 crore for the fourth quarter ended March last fiscal.

New Delhi. Public sector power company National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has released the fourth quarter results on Saturday. The company’s consolidated net profit tripled to Rs 4,649.49 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2021. With this, the company had earned a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,629.86 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year.

In the information sent to BSE, the company said that its total income during the quarter increased to Rs 31,687.24 crore as against Rs 31,330.25 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The company’s net profit in the last financial year 2020-21 stood at Rs 14,969.40 crore, which was Rs 11,191.98 crore in the previous financial year 2019-20.

The company’s total income during the financial year increased to Rs 1,15,546.83 crore from Rs 1,12,372.58 crore in the previous financial year.

This is in addition to the interim dividend of Rs 3 per equity share paid in February, 2021. The board of directors has approved to increase the company’s borrowing limit from Rs 2 lakh crore to Rs 2,25,000 crore.

NTPC’s total power generation in the March quarter stood at 77.63 Billion Units (BU), as against 68.27 Billion Units (BU) in the same quarter last year. The company’s electricity generation in 2020-21 was 270.90 billion units, as against 259.61 billion units in the previous financial year.
