New Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday held a review meeting with Infosys officials regarding technical glitches in the new income tax e-filing portal. During this, discussions were held with the officials of Infosys regarding the problems being faced in the new portal. Let us inform that the new e-portal of the Income Tax Department has been prepared by Infosys itself. During this, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur, Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj, CBDT Chairman Jagannath Mohapatra and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance were also present. However, nothing has been said officially about the meeting.

ICAI said, the flaws of the new portal will be removed soon
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has said that the technical glitches will be rectified soon. Let us inform that representatives of ICAI were also present in this meeting. This new portal of the Income Tax Department was started on 7 June 2021, but since that day many flaws have come to the fore. It is taking more login time, problem in issuing OTP for Aadhaar verification and Income Tax returns of previous years are also not available in it. ICAI said after the meeting that it has been asked to keep providing necessary information and support to CBDT and Infosys for speedy resolution of the issues in this regard. According to the Income Tax Department, the new portal has been created with an aim to be taxpayer friendly and improve compliance.

Common taxpayers can also use it to file returns
Common taxpayers can also use the Income Tax Department’s new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in for filing their annual return (ITR). In this, for the income earned in the financial year 2020-21, the return can be filed in the assessment year 2021-22. The last date for filing returns for individual taxpayers is September 30. Earlier in the annual general meeting of Infosys, top company executives had said on Saturday that they are working on resolving the issues. In some cases they have also got success.
