director Rahul Dholakia issued a statement on Twitter and gave information about this. He tweeted and released a statement, which wrote- ‘There are some films that you want to do, well, Mithu was one of those films. When I read the script, I decided that I have to do this film. This was about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I have to finish the journey which started in November 2019. I will not be directing the brilliant screenplay written by Priya Aven and conceived by Ajit Andhare.’

Rahul further wrote- ‘Unfortunately I will no longer be a part of this dream, but I will always be present to make his dream come true. Kovid messed up everyone’s schedule, so did mine. Ajith has a vision, a plan for the film and a way to release it. I wish him and his team all the best for this. Thank you! Best wishes, Rahul Dholakia.
