He told that the possibilities of divine calamity remain in the state all the time. Keeping this in view, there is a need for a strong disaster management system in the state. He said that the departmental structure of disaster management and rehabilitation would be prepared first at the state level, which instructions have been given to the officials of the government to bring it to the cabinet. He said that a strong structure of disaster management department would be established at the state level as well as at the district and block level.
The Departmental Minister said that the officers have been instructed to implement IRS-DSS system at the district level to reduce the risk of life and property during the disaster in the state. Through this, information exchange and monitoring can be done easily at the time of disaster. The benefit of which will be especially given to the people of very sensitive areas and they can be alerted before the disaster. Also, after the disaster, the situation of the disaster-affected areas can be assessed and monitoring can be done in a short time.
In the meeting, Dr. Rawat has prepared the base for the Doppler Radar Station being set up in Surkhanda, where instructions have been given to the officers to reach the instruments by helicopter. He said that with the establishment of Doppler radar station, weather related information would be available to the state soon. Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation S. a. Murugeshan informed that in view of the disaster in the state, soon nodal officers will be appointed at the state and district level after meeting the heads of the line departments like NH, PWD, PMGSY, Telecom, Jal Sansthan, Jal Nigam and Electricity Department.
