India among top 10 in ITU Global Cyber ​​Security Index

New Delhi: India has gained 37 places to rank in the top 10 in ITU’s Global Cybersecurity Index 2020. India has been ranked 10th in the world on key cyber security parameters. The endorsement of India’s efforts on cyber security by the United Nations body coincided with the sixth anniversary of Digital India on July 1.

India is emerging as a global IT superpower and asserts its digital sovereignty with firm measures to protect data privacy and online rights of citizens.

India ranked 10th in the Global Cyber ​​Security Index (GIC) 2020 launched by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on 29 June 2021 and improved its rank by 37 places.

In terms of cyber security, the US tops the list, followed by the UK and Saudi Arabia in second place, while Estonia is at third place in the index.
