Airbags made mandatory for front passenger seat in new cars, order issued

New Delhi. Till now, airbags were made mandatory only on the driver’s seat for car manufacturing in India. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has now changed its policies to make airbags mandatory for front passenger seats in new cars as well. To implement this new rule, the government had earlier set the date of April 1, 2021, which has now been extended to December 31, 2021. That is, from the beginning of 2022, all car makers will now have to provide airbags on the front passenger seat in their new cars.

After making new rules by the government, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers has sought time till December 31 to implement this new rule. Let us tell you why the government needed to implement this new rule, whereas airbags for the driver’s seat have already been made mandatory in all cars.

better security
While driving the car, the driver’s hand is on the steering, due to which the driver’s grip remains strong, while the person sitting in the passenger seat during an accident has only the support of the seat belt. In the event of an accident, the driver is protected with an airbag, but the head of the person sitting next to it can hit the wind shield, which can also cause serious injury. In such a situation, for the passenger sitting in front, it proves to be effective in an airbag accident.

Sir’s defense
Due to a speeding accident, if the head of the person sitting in the passenger seat collides with the dashboard or any other part, it can result in serious injury and death. Car dashboard being made of sturdy plastic or wooden material can cause serious injury. In such a situation, it becomes mandatory for both the people sitting in front to have airbags.
