New Delhi. Latest update is coming regarding bank privatisation. A high-level panel headed by the Cabinet Secretary recently held a meeting to consider the recommendations of NITI Aayog on privatization of public sector banks. According to CNBC-TV18, Indian Overseas Bank and Central Bank of India could be the probable candidates. Chief Economic Adviser Krishnamurthy Subramanian indicated in an interview that a proposal for privatization of the bank could be taken up in the monsoon session of Parliament.

What did Subramaniam say?
Subramaniam said, “The emphasis is on implementing all the reforms that have been announced in the last one and a half year and that is the budget. So, there is really serious focus on implementation, be it privatization program or public Privatization of sector banks.” The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) on Tuesday recommended holding the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament from July 19 to August 13. Sources said that this session will have 20 meetings.

When does the monsoon session start?
Sources said that all COVID-19 related protocols would be followed inside the Parliament premises during the session, hoping that all those entering the premises during the session would get the COVID vaccine.
