Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Toofan’ accused of spreading ‘love jihad’, film caught in controversies even before release

There is a demand to boycott Farhan’s ‘Toofan’ on social media. #BoycottToofaan is trending on Twitter. People have accused the film of spreading love jihad.

People are protesting this by continuously posting on Twitter. Recently the trailer of the film was released, which shows the love between a Muslim boy and a Hindu girl. To which people have objected. One user tweeted and wrote, ‘Not only Hindus are the target of Bollywood? But they are also promoting love jihad. There are so many films in which the heroine is always a Hindu. Is it not systematically targeting Hindus in the name of entertainment?

Let us tell you, ‘Toofan’ is a story of hope, faith and inner strength driven by passion and perseverance. The motivational sports drama is presented by Amazon Prime Video in association with Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures. Ritesh Sidhwani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Farhan Akhtar have produced the film.

The film has an all-star cast led by Farhan Akhtar with Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapoor, Hussain Dalal, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Darshan Kumar and Vijay Raaz in lead roles. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the high-octane trailer of the film tells us about the life journey of a local goon named Ajju Bhai in which a goon turns into a professional boxer named Aziz Ali.
