With this, the value of Flipkart has reached $37.6 billion. This will help this online retailer to compete with Amazon in the country. This time GIC, Canada Pension Plan Investment, SoftBank Vision Fund-2, Walmart, Qatar Investment Authority, Tencent, Franklin Templeton and Tiger Global have invested in Flipkart.

Flipkart Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kalyan Krishnamurthy said that this investment by leading global investors indicates the potential of digital commerce in the country and the potential for all Flipkart stakeholders to capitalize on this potential. We will focus on meeting the needs of our customers as well as catering to millions of small and medium businesses. The company said it will continue to invest in human resources, technology, supply chain and infrastructure. The Flipkart group also includes Myntra, PhonePe and e-Kart.

There are more than 3 lakh shoppers on Flipkart
Walmart, one of America’s largest retail companies, bought a majority stake in Flipkart three years ago. Walmart has also participated in this round of funding. Flipkart said that it has more than 350 million registered users across the country. Apart from this, there are more than three lakh sellers on Flipkart’s marketplace. Of these, 60 per cent sellers are from Tier-2 and below cities.
