New Delhi. There is good news on the industrial production front even after the business situation created due to Corona crisis. In fact, according to the Industrial Production (IIP) data released by the Central Government on Monday, on a year-on-year basis, an increase of about 30 percent has been registered in May 2021. In comparison to the previous year, during April 2021, it registered a spectacular increase of 134 percent and in March, 22.4 percent. However, industrial production declined by 13.4 per cent in May this year when compared with the figures of May 2019 before the Corona crisis.

34.5% growth in manufacturing sector output
According to central government data, industrial production registered a growth of 29.3 percent during May. According to the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), the manufacturing sector registered a growth of 34.5 percent during this period. In this, a jump of 200 percent was recorded during April 2021. At the same time, the manufacturing sector had grown by 25.8 percent in March. There has been a jump of 23.3 percent in the production in the mining sector and 7.5 percent in electricity production. Let us inform that in May 2020, there was a decline of 33.4 percent in IIP.

57 percent decline was recorded in April 2020
There was a steady decline in industrial production since March 2020 due to the corona virus epidemic. In March 2020, there was a decline of 18.7 percent in it. After this, economic activities came to a standstill in April 2020 due to the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of corona virus. Due to this, there was a decline of 57.3 percent in industrial production during April 2020. During February 2020, an increase of 5.2 per cent was registered in the IIP before the rapid spread of the Corona crisis.
