Russia presented ‘Checkmate’ to the world, will give competition to America

Moscow. Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi (Shukhoi Fighter Jet) on Tuesday presented the initial model of its new fighter aircraft to the world. This aircraft is equipped with stealth (not visible to enemy radar) capability and other state-of-the-art features. This warplane has been named ‘Checkmate’.

Russian President Vladimir Putin inspected this aircraft at the MAKS-2021 International Aviation and Space Salon and on this occasion he praised the country’s air power. It will make its first flight in 2023 and its first batch will be produced in 2026. According to the news agency Reuters, this is the fifth generation fighter jet, which was presented at an airshow.

Under Putin’s regime, Russia has invested heavily in military aircraft and new weapons for its own armed forces and to boost export revenue from arms sales. Many of its new weapons are still based on Soviet-era technology from the Cold War. The new aircraft is smaller than Russia’s new 2-engined Sukhoi-57 stealth fighter aircraft and has only one engine.

Checkmate is not easy to find
Yuri Slyusser, the head of United Aircraft Corporation, told reporters that Russia plans to build 300 such fighter jets in the next 15 years. It is being seen as an answer to America’s most advanced F-35 aircraft. Russia’s state aerospace and defense company Rustec says that it will not be easy for the enemy to find this plane and the cost of operating it will also be low.
