uttarakhand celebrates bakra eid with covid restrictions in mosques people shopped in markets

Dehradun. After an appeal was made to celebrate Bakrid festival with simplicity in the entire state under the Kovid protocol, it was also ensured that the festival is celebrated according to the guidelines. This time there were instructions not to hold mass prayers at the Idgah in the capital. A limited number of special Eid prayers were offered here on the occasion of Eid on Wednesday. Similarly, there were reports of limited numbers and social distancing being followed in other mosques. On the other hand, when there was a lot of festival shopping in the markets, the top leaders of the state also congratulated the people on the festival.

According to the news coming from many parts of Uttarakhand, the festival of Eid-Uz-Zuha is being celebrated as per protocol. While 10 people offered prayers at Idgah in Ramnagar, social distancing was followed in mosques in Haridwar as well. Local leaders and the police and administration in their areas ensured that the festival is celebrated in a simple and precautionary manner. In the mosque of Haridwar district, only 5 people offered prayers and most of them at home. In many places, police force was also deployed at mosques and Idgahs for arrangements and security.

The newly appointed Governor of Uttarakhand Baby Rani Maurya tweeted congratulating the state on Bakrid. Maurya described Eid as a festival of sacrifice, dedication and an opportunity to give the message of helping and welfare of the people. At the same time, the state’s CM Pushkar Singh Dhami issued a message to congratulate the Muslim community of the state. Along with congratulations, he also appealed to everyone to celebrate Eid with simplicity in view of Kovid.

On the occasion of Eid, according to tradition, there was a lot of enthusiasm in the markets for the purchase of new clothes, special dishes and sweets etc. According to the news, people were also seen shopping in shopping malls including Paltan Bazaar, Indira Market and Tibetan Bazaar in Dehradun. Similarly, a lot of enthusiasm was seen in other cities of the state for the festival shopping.
