Corteva Agriscience ties up with 40,000 acres of sustainable paddy fields

New Delhi. Global agriculture firm Corteva Agriscience on Thursday said it has signed a three-year project with 2030 Water Resources Group (2030 WRG) to promote sustainable paddy cultivation in 40,000 acres in Uttar Pradesh.

Under this project, 2030 WRG, hosted by Corteva, the World Bank Group, and several stakeholders will work to convert 40,000 acres of land to direct seed transplantation instead of the traditional planting method of paddy transplantation, according to a statement.

According to Corteva Agriscience, the three-year project will promote sustainable livelihoods in agriculture and work for socio-economic empowerment of farmers.

In this way, water usage in paddy cultivation is reduced by 35-37 percent and greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 20-30 percent.
