Microsoft will soon set up a data center, will invest two billion dollars

New Delhi: Tech giant Microsoft is in discussion with the Telangana government on a proposal to set up one of its largest data centers, with an investment of around USD 2 billion. Sources close to the whole matter gave this information on Thursday. If the talks are successful, it would be one of Microsoft’s major investments outside the US. Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao had a conversation with the senior management of Microsoft a few months back.

Sources told PTI, “Discussions are in the final stages. Some issues are yet to be finalized, including location and quantum of investment.

When contacted, a top official of the state IT department said that the IT company has requested not to disclose about the ongoing discussions with the state government. Emails sent to Microsoft’s public relations agency did not elicit any response.
