Indian heritage to be glimpsed at Jewar airport
The developer was selected to design the airport’s passenger terminal through a three-stage competition between June and August 2020. In early December, a consortium consisting of Nordic, Haptic, Grimshaw and STUP was selected as the architects. Sources reveal that while reviewing the progress of the airport on July 17, CM Adityanath said that the architecture of the main terminal building should reflect the country’s heritage. The CM further said that the authorities should see how it will be implemented as the design of the main terminal building of the airport should be attractive but with an identity of Indian heritage.

During the design presentation, the Chief Minister was also apprised about the features of the modern terminal building of Noida Airport. According to sources it is expected to handle an initial annual arrival of 12 million passengers. A huge food court the size of a football field, a luxurious terminal building has been proposed, which will be located between the arrival and departure areas.

Officials have said that another terminal building will be set up adjacent to the main terminal, which will be a mirror image of the original building. At present, work is going on for the first phase of the airport in an area of 1,334 hectares, on which two runways are planned. Apart from this, there will also be cargo services at Noida airport.

Overall, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said during the review that Indian heritage should be reflected in the architecture of the main terminal building of the airport. Adityanath also said that now it is for the officials to see how it will happen. Following the instructions of Yogi Adityanath, the officials are also working towards making the design attractive. In this meeting, Civil Aviation Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary to CM SP Goyal, Noida International Airport Ltd. (Nayal) Chief Executive Officer Arun Veer Singh and many other representatives also attended.
