New Delhi . The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has said that India is set to achieve 4,50,000 MW of renewable energy generation capacity by 2030. Earlier this month, MNRE in association with FICCI organized a series of events in the Climate and Biodiversity Week at Dubai Expo 2020 from 6-8 October.
These programs included topics related to India’s renewable energy achievements and ambitions, emerging areas and opportunities for renewable energy in India. The program was organized by Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) and Renewable Energy Development Society of India Limited (IREDA).

40 percent target by 2022
Singh said, “39 per cent of our installed capacity already comes from non-fossil based sources. We will reach the target of 40 per cent by 2022.” He said, “India has embarked on an exciting journey and SECI will continue to work towards achieving an installed capacity of 4,50,000 MW by 2030.”
25 GW growth per year
According to a report, India has also continuously moved towards renewable energy. India ranks third in the world in terms of renewable energy capacity and is growing its renewable energy capacity at the fastest rate among all major countries. India’s renewable energy capacity is 136 GW, which is about 36 percent of its total power capacity. The target of capacity addition by 2030 is 450 GW with an increase of 25 GW per year.
India has laid the foundation of ‘International Solar Alliance’ in collaboration with France. About 121 countries involved in this have united to adopt alternatives of energy other than fossil fuels. On the initiative of this solar alliance, a target has been set to produce 1 trillion watts i.e. 1000 gigawatts of energy through solar energy in the world by the year 2030.
