New Delhi. The common man has got some relief on the inflation front during September 2021. However, due to the increase in fuel and power prices during this period, some problems have also been introduced. According to government data, the annual wholesale price-based inflation rate (WPI) in the country has come down to 10.66 percent during September 2021. In August 2021, wholesale inflation stood at 11.39 percent. According to the data, wholesale inflation has remained in double digits (Double Digit WPI) for the 6th consecutive month.
Food prices rise at a slower pace
On an annual basis, in September 2021, an increase of 24.81 percent has been registered in the prices of fuel and electricity. Exactly a month ago i.e. in August 2021, this figure was at 26.09 percent. At the same time, the prices of manufactured products have increased by 11.41 percent during September, from 11.39 percent in August 2021. However, the wholesale prices of food items have increased at a slower pace of 1.14 per cent during September 2021 as compared to the previous year. During August 2021, the wholesale price of food articles in the country had increased at a rapid rate of 3.43 per cent.

Relief to common man from retail inflation
The common man has also got some relief in the matter of retail inflation in September 2021. According to the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO), the retail inflation rate came down to 4.35 percent during September 2021. A month before this, i.e. in August 2021, the retail inflation rate was at 5.3 percent. According to the NSO, a reduction in retail inflation has been recorded due to the reduction in the price of food items. The Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) declined to 0.68 per cent in September 2021 from 3.11 per cent in August 2021.
