Putin told America the biggest threat to Russia
Emphasis on enhancing strategic ties with India
Putin signs a new naval doctrine on Naval Day
St. Petersburg. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that America is the biggest threat to Russia. Russia’s priority is to increase strategic and naval cooperation with India, as well as to develop comprehensive cooperation with Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia. Putin signed a new naval doctrine on the occasion of Russia’s Naval Day. In which America has been presented as the main threat to Russia. It also outlines Russia’s global maritime ambitions for important regions such as the Arctic and the Black Sea.
According to a news agency Reuters news, Putin gave a short speech on Russia’s Navy Day in St. Petersburg. In which he said that on the strength of weapons like Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles, Russia has the military strength to defeat any potential attacker. Shortly before his speech, Putin signed a new 55-page naval doctrine. He said the main threats to Russia are America’s strategy to dominate the world’s oceans and the expansion of the NATO military alliance close to Russia’s borders.
Russia’s new naval doctrine recognizes that Russia does not have enough naval bases globally. Therefore, Russia’s priority is to enhance strategic and naval cooperation with India, as well as develop wider cooperation with Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and other states in the region. Putin did not mention the ongoing war in Ukraine in his speech. But this new naval doctrine envisages greatly strengthening Russia’s geo-strategic position in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Significantly, due to Russia’s war with Ukraine for the last five months, there has been a deep tension in relations between it and the Western countries. Russia’s 37,650 km. (23,400 mi) has a vast coastline, which extends from the Sea of Japan to the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.
