Washington. A cargo truck full of migrants was abandoned mid-way in Veracruz, Mexico, after officials said the truck was carrying 94 migrants. The migrants somehow saved themselves from suffocation.

Carlos Enrique Escalante, head of the Office of Migrant Affairs in the Gulf Coast state of Veracruz, said migrants broke a hole in the cargo container to get out and some people came out from the roof of the container. Some migrants were injured when they jumped off the roof of the container, although no one was fatally injured.

Escalante said local residents near the town of Acayucan heard the noise and helped open the cargo container. It is believed that a large number of migrants were in the truck and some migrants fled after leaving the container.
