Philippines shaken by magnitude 7 earthquake, 5 killed and hundreds injured

manila, The powerful aftershocks of the earthquake have shaken the Philippines. Strong tremors were felt in Abra province in the northern Philippines, 300 km from the capital Manila. According to the information, the earthquake in this mountainous area was a “shallow earthquake” which causes more damage than a deep earthquake.

At least 5 people are reported to have died in this earthquake, which measured at a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale. More than 100 people have been injured in the earthquake damaged buildings and landslides.

Police Major Edwin Sergio told AFP news agency that people in Dolores Municipality had come out in fear as buildings were shaking and walls cracked. He told that the windows of the local market have been broken due to the earthquake.

A 23-year-old woman died after a wall collapsed in Abra’s provincial capital, Bangued, according to officials. At least 78 have been injured in the province. A video posted on Facebook and verified by AFP shows cracks in the asphalt road and the ground in Banguede.

Worker dies due to stone fall
Two construction workers have died in separate incidents. According to the police, a laborer was killed when a stone fell while working in a building. Simultaneously, six other laborers were injured.

At the same time, an elderly woman in Suyo Municipality of Ilocos Sur province has suffered serious injuries after being buried in a landslide while walking on the road.
