Both the countries attacked to gain an edge in the war
Kyiv: Russian military fired missiles at an airfield in central Ukraine on Saturday, killing at least three people and Ukrainian forces launched rocket attacks across a river in Russian-held southern territory. Attacks on critical infrastructure on the 150th day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are the latest attempt by both sides to gain an edge in the war.
13 Russian missiles were fired at an airfield and a railway installation in the Kirovohradska region in central Ukraine. Governor Adria Railkovic said at least one personnel and two guards were killed in the attacks. The regional administration said 13 other people were injured in the attacks near the city of Kirovohrad.
Ukraine targets Russian military forces
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces fired rockets across the Dnieper River and tried to disrupt supplies for Russian forces in the southern Kherson region occupied by Russian forces at the beginning of the attack. The latest attacks come hours after Russia and Ukraine signed separate agreements with Turkey and the United Nations to pave the way for the export of millions of tons of Ukrainian grain and Russian food and fertilizer. With these agreements, the deadlock over food security around the world has ended.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov signed separate agreements in this regard with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a nightly address that the agreement “gives an opportunity to prevent a global famine that can cause political chaos in many countries of the world, especially the countries helping us.” Let us tell you that Russia attacked Ukraine in February this year.
